| The traditional village of Karterados is
built beside a stream in a ravine. Its existence is recorded
back to the 17th century. The original dwellings are cave
houses built deep into the rock face. During the 19th
century, it was one of the large sea captain villages

| Fira Town |
| Fira is just a short drive from Stavros
Villas and the island shopping mecca. It also head
the nightlife section and has the biggest selection
of clubs, cafes, tavernas and restaurants. There
are several museums, exhibition centers, local banks,
the head post office, taxi and bus depot. Fira rests
on the Caldera cliffs opposite the Volcano.
You can walk to Fira in 20 minutes and drive
there in 3 minutes.There is a regular bus service
that takes you to the capital as well as other
villages on the island. You can catch the bus
at bus stops on the main Karterados - Fira road. |
